Kelly’s Imaginary World

Kelly’s Imaginary World. The drawings I present here are the result of my exploration of the character I brought to life in 2010, Kelly. ‘The Submerged World’, by Gary Owen. The struggle between the ugly and the beautiful. Kelly, the inspector of the world of the ugly—a colourless, compassionless society subservient to a merciless law—finds herself tainted whilst pursuing a beautiful couple who are in hiding and breaking the rules imposed by the ugly. The beautiful reclaim the most precious thing humanity possesses: love. I am grateful for this whole process; through it, I have rediscovered what I love doing most: drawing and painting. Following the drawings of Kelly’s imaginary world, some of which were coloured throughout 2010, they served as inspiration for my first painting exhibition: ‘Appearances’.
